| March 22, 2010 6:00 P.M. First United Methodist Chruch By guest speaker, Reverend Ellen Willett Associate Pastor of Education at First United Methodist Church Contact the Church office at 936-295-5441 or Linda Johnson at 936-435-9989 for more information The History of Celebration Women’s Ministry They had a dream for a ministry within the United Methodist Church for women to be equipped to be all that they were created to be in Jesus Christ. They prayed for three years about this ministry, and respecting the authority of the United Methodist Church and the Texas Annual Conference, they contacted Bishop Woodrow Hearn in 1997. Celebration Women’s Ministries was approved by the Bishop at Texas Annual Conference in June 1999, and placed under the Committee on Devotional Life. The women of FUMC Huntsville, most of who were involved in its Intercessory Prayer Ministry, prayed for three months, as required of all churches seeking to have a Celebration Chapter. They received permission from the senior pastor, Rev. Boyd Wagner, to propose the ministry to the Council on Ministries and the Administrative Board. It was approved; our “Experience Celebration” organizational meeting was held in November of 1999; and our Chapter was chartered in January 2000. This ministry is a blessing to this church and out of it has grown the Healing Service that has been held here for the last four and a half years. | | |
