Profession of Faith
Any person desiring to confess his faith in Jesus Christ and wishing to live a Christian life may become a member of the church by Profession of Faith. Each such person is asked to declare his purpose by answering the following questions:
“Do you truly and earnestly repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior?”
“Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; and in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life?”
“Do you believe in the word of God, as contained in the Old and New Testaments?”
We recognize the Sacrament of Baptism as administered by all Christian churches. If you have not previously been baptized, the minister will administer the Sacrament prior to your Profession of Faith.
Vows
If you are already a member of another denomination, we will receive you by vows.
A second baptism is not necessary. After receiving you into the United Methodist Church, we will contact your former church and advise them of your new membership.
You will be asked this question: “Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?”
Transfer
If you are a member of another congregation of the United Methodist Church, we will receive you by Transfer of Membership.
It is not necessary that you have your church letter before being received into membership. The church office will write and secure a Certificate of Transfer for you.
