Deaf and Hard of Hearing Ministries

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Ministry of First United Methodist Church's vision is transforming lives and serving others. Our mission statement: “we exist to connect individuals with God’s grace through the love of Christ.” There are many ways to get involved with this ministry, for those who are deaf and hard of hearing and those who want to learn more about American Sign Language.

We have ASL interpretation every Sunday at our 9:45 contemporary service. There is a reserved section in the front right of the worship space for those who are deaf and hard of hearing.

KaleidOScope Sunday School

Wednesdays | 6-7 PM | Coffee Lobby

Every Sunday Morning | 11:00 | 202/203

Signing Choir meets in the coffee lobby and is a mixed group of deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people.  Our aim is to raise Deaf Awareness in the community, and promote the use of American Sign Language, which we do by performing popular songs, hymns, and carols in sign language.
They help lead worship at our 9:45 service on special occasions throughout the year.
The Kaleidoscope Sunday School class is not specifically for those who are deaf and hard of hearing. Rather, it is a Sunday School class where many of our deaf and hard of hearing members attend and the where leaders make specific accommodations for the HOH.
